The Ottoman sultans played chess as seriously as a war exercise and drew conclusions in order to determine the correct tactics for their upcoming campaigns. Chess is a mind game played between two players. This game is played with chess pieces on an 8 x 8 square area called a chessboard. What makes Ottoman chess unique is the figures on its pieces. The figures were redesigned with inspiration from the Ottoman period.
