Logic Voltage Level Converter (3.3V-5V) - Logic Level Converter
Description
- If you've ever tried to connect a 3.3V device to a 5V system, you know how difficult it will be. The SparkFun logic level converter is a small device that safely converts 5V signals to 3.3V signals and 3.3 Volts to 5 Volts. This level converter also works with 2.8 V and 1.8 V devices. Each level converter has the ability to convert 4 pins on the high side to 4 pins on the low side. Two inputs and two outputs are provided for each side. The board includes both step-down and step-up voltages, as well as high and low voltage inputs and outputs. Bread board compatible! It can be used with normal serial, I2C, SPI and other digital signals. It does not work with an analog signal. Using this level converter is quite simple. The board must be powered by the two voltage sources your system is using (high voltage and low voltage). You should connect high voltage (eg 5 V) to the 'HV' pin, low voltage (eg 2.8 V) to the 'LV' pin and ground to the 'GND' pin of the system. Pins are labeled Inputs and Outputs. These vary depending on the cards. A digital signal going to the RXI pin on the 5V side appears to be 3.3V on the 3.3V side on the RXO pin. A digital signal going to the TXI pin on the 3.3 V side, on the other hand, appears as 5V on the TXO pin on the 5V side.
