Essential oils are not used alone. They should be used diluted with fixed oils in certain ratios. Except for exceptions, they are not used internally. Methods of Extracting Oils Cold Pressing This is the process of extracting the oil from plants, usually the seed parts, which are rich in fixed oils, by crushing them with the help of a press. In the cold press method, the useful and valuable components in the oil are not lost, so the quality of the oil produced is high. Steam Distillation The process carried out with steam distillation; The process involves placing plants, fresh or dried, in a container with a separate basket, boiling the water below, and passing the steam through the plants. This steam is then cooled to separate the essential oil and the resulting hydrosol (flower water), which retains the beneficial properties of the distilled plant. Maceration is the process of preparing oily mixtures by allowing crushed herbal drugs to sit in a carrier oil for a period of time. It is a method of separating the natural plant components that have passed into the carrier oil.
